About this day nursery

Byerley Road Preschool in Shildon, established in 2004, provides childcare for children aged 1 to 11 years. 30am until 6pm, and offers occasional care during some school holidays.

The setting maintains a happy, relaxed atmosphere where children are warmly welcomed and eager to play and interact. Staff promptly offer nurturing cuddles when emotional support is needed, helping children to settle quickly.

The curriculum is thoughtfully planned with a strong focus on developing independence and communication skills. Staff create experiences based on children's interests, leading to high levels of engagement, such as dinosaur-themed activities that spark imagination and curiosity in pre-schoolers.

The outdoor environment is well-utilised, particularly for older children's physical development, who are highly engaged in climbing, balancing, and using tools to dig.
