About this day nursery

Care4kids Childcare provides care for children from birth to four years old in Ashford, Kent. The day nursery is open all year, Monday to Friday, from 8am until 5.30pm. At its inspection in December 2022, Ofsted rated the overall effectiveness of the provision as Good. The report noted that children are settled, confident, and independent, and that they choose their own play and complete their own tasks.

The setting provides outdoor areas where children can develop their physical skills. Younger children have access to age-appropriate climbing equipment with slopes and steps, while older children can use more challenging items such as rope ladders, zip lines and tyre swings. The inspector found that staff establish secure and trusting relationships with all children and support those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Staff are trained in Makaton and use signing to support children's communication.

Our ethos

At Care4kids being kind, understanding and respectful are 3 of our main values. We believe that every child and every team member should be understood and respected in all situations. We give the children the opportunities to be heard and have their interests at the main focus point of their learning and development. We are mindful during caregiving times of the day and these are not rushed. We have rituals rather than routines and the staff and children get to learn these rituals to ease them through different times of the day. Singing washing hands song, signing and asking to go for a change rather than shouting it out or whisking the children away from play, talking through what is happening next 'can I put some sun cream on you as its hot today?'

What it's like

All children, even the youngest, are settled, confident and very happy at the setting. They are independent and are confident to choose their own play and complete their own tasks. Children are eager to join in with the challenging and interesting activities that staff carefully plan for them.

For the past three and half years I have used Care 4 Kids as a Childminder, After school club and nursery. They have cared for all my kids and have given my family so much support. What a fantastic team and place! My kids love the setting and love the staff. They always go over and beyond. Highly recommended.
