Opening hours

Charnwood Day Nursery and Preschool in Loughborough provides childcare for children aged 0-4 years, operating Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 6 pm, all year round, closing only for bank holidays and one week at Christmas. The setting, which received a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 7th August 2023, prides itself on creating a home-from-home environment where children are eager to play and use their imagination.
Children form strong bonds with staff, confidently sharing ideas and inviting friends to join in their chosen activities, such as drawing and making marks on a fence with paint, water, and mud. The curriculum focuses on developing foundational skills, with children learning about shapes, letters, and developing fine motor skills through activities such as copying letters and shapes drawn by staff.
Children behave exceptionally well, understanding staff expectations and following daily routines. For children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and those who speak English as an additional language, staff assess what they know and can do to support their learning and address any gaps.
Outdoor learning is encouraged, with children independently refilling water pots from an outside tap and cooperatively carrying them back for creative play. Staff also embrace children's interests, incorporating shared experiences from home into planned activities, such as creating a band with homemade instruments.
Parents commend the staff on their communication regarding all aspects of their children's care and education, including how to support learning at home. The nursery also promotes independence from a young age, teaching children practical skills like pouring their own water and using cutlery efficiently.

Inclusion & environment
The staff assess what children know and can do, supporting them with what they need to learn next and addressing any gaps in their learning. This includes children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
When they run out of water to use, children independently take their pots to the outside tap and work together to fill them up and carry them carefully back to the fence. Children excitedly giggle as they follow staff instructions to paint as high and as quickly as they can.
Great nursery—100% recommendable. They may not have the newest toys and equipment, but the teaching team is amazing and always keeps the children busy. They paint, bake, and have many sensory activities. Children in this nursery receive the attention they need at this stage.
