About this day nursery

Belton Playgroup is a well-established, village-based early years setting in North West Leicestershire, operating since 1970 from the local Village Hall. The playgroup is dedicated to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where children learn and develop primarily through play, following a "Ludocentric" pedagogy.

They adhere to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework's four guiding principles. With an Ofsted rating of "Good," Belton Playgroup prides itself on its highly experienced and qualified staff, all trained to Level 3 or above.

The playgroup is committed to inclusivity, striving to be accessible to all families in the local community and offering support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) that exceeds statutory requirements. As a registered charity, they actively engage in fundraising initiatives to support their operations.

They prioritise strong communication with families through regular newsletters and learning stories, and actively facilitate smooth transitions to primary school for their children.

Our ethos

What it's like

Children look at photo books of their learning and special events to develop a sense of belonging. Staff support all children, including those with SEND, to focus and engage in small focused group times, and children enjoy being physically active and creative through activities such as swinging, climbing and making dough.

Pricing & funding

Fees are charged on an hourly basis, with reviews occurring annually. The setting admits children from 18 months of age. For funded hours, parents are asked to make a voluntary hourly contribution to support the nursery's additional operational costs and enhanced services.
