About this day nursery

Charnwood Nursery, recognised as Outstanding by OFSTED in 2022, is dedicated to fostering individual growth and potential in young children. The nursery embraces a philosophy of nurturing development through sensory play and daily outdoor activities, regardless of weather conditions.

Beyond conventional learning, Charnwood encourages participation in communal tasks to build confidence and community awareness. The facility also runs an "Opportunity Group" offering stay-and-play sessions for infants and toddlers, allowing even the youngest members to engage with the wider Charnwood community and partake in new experiences.

The nursery operates during term-time, aligning with Stockport Local Authority school dates, and prioritises children in their preschool year for September admissions, with some limited openings in January or April. Charnwood Nursery also provides wraparound care options, including a Breakfast Club and Afterschool Club, available for an additional fee.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Charnwood is a fully inclusive setting where children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are fully immersed in their play, supported by highly qualified and skilled staff. Children with SEND are supported exceptionally well, with staff expertly working in partnership with outside agencies to support their varied needs. Daily routines and activities are skilfully differentiated to be inclusive to all children, and all staff consistently use Makaton and visual pictures to develop children's communication and language skills, ensuring learning is accessible.

Outdoor space

Children's physical development is promoted well as they explore the outdoor areas. They go down the slide with confidence and children with SEND are supported to successfully access the climbing frame.
