Elm Cottage Day Nursery, established in 1989 by Yvonne Thomas, was born from a personal mission to provide exceptional early childhood care. Initially inspired by her own child's recovery from a brain tumour, Yvonne created a stimulating environment with qualified staff, a philosophy that continues to guide the nursery today.
The nursery's curriculum predates official requirements, showcasing their commitment to advanced early years education. Expanding from its first setting in Heaton Norris, Elm Cottage now includes additional nurseries and after-school clubs in Cheadle Hulme, developed in response to local school requests.
Our ethos
At Elm Cottage our aim has always been to provide every child with the best possible start in life and to support them to fulfil their potential. Ensuring high staff ratios. Delivering the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) to the highest standard possible. Providing individualised learning, development and care that enhances development and recognises that children learn at their own pace. Carrying out ongoing observational assessments that inform planning for each child’s continuing development through play based activities. This is a fantastic nursery. Both my children have really enjoyed their time here and there is a real family feel between all the staff and the environment. The effort put into the activities is very impressive and the communication is timely and reasonable. Any concerns have always been taken extremely seriously and acted on urgently. I have felt very confident in the ability of the team and the care and attention they have given my children to support them to thrive. I would highly recommend this nursery.
Read on GoogleMy little boy joined Elm Cottage Crescent Park when he just turned 1 year old in the Little Fishes. He was moving to the Star Fish room this September. Thanks to the lovely and caring staffs, he settled nicely and quickly. He is very happy to go to the nursery everyday. Moreover, I am very grateful to the staffs who prepare so many attractive activities for children and help them to learn patiently. I will absolutely recommend this fabulous and OUTSTANDING nursery to everyone.
