Parents speak highly about the communication staff maintain with them regarding their child's learning and development.
They are complimentary of the thorough induction process in place that helps their children to settle into nursery well.
Parents compliment the nursery's inclusive approach in teaching children about different cultures and faiths.
Inclusion & environment
This helps most children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) to maintain focus and attention for extended periods of time. Children with SEND are supported well. Staff liaise with external professionals and keep parents informed frequently about their children's progress. They share and implement strategies to maintain a consistent approach to meeting all children's individual needs.
Staff offer a range of opportunities for children to engage in physically active play, both inside and outdoors. Children enjoy completing obstacle courses and develop good balance. They also use tools with control to cut fruit and vegetables. Outside, children complete obstacle courses and use positional language they have been learning from the book.
It is no easy thing to place twins in a nursery, but Woodgrange Chestnut nursery have done this fantastically. My boys have loved it and they have dealt wonderfully with the challenge of COVID. I have a background in early years education and care research and I have been extremely impressed with their approach to pedagogy and child-centred early years development. They maintain an excellent balance of educative aspects, while also all staff giving great 121 attention to their charges, their approach has a great balance of group and self-directed play. I have noticed that my twins have extended their capacity to concentrate and hold their attention on an activity which is excellent for their development. They always provide a range of stimulating activities and are very good at (gently) regulating toddler behaviour and emotions. I also find communications excellent at Chestnut, both at local and head office levels. It really is great as a working parent to get emails and I find the parent zone app very useful (and often amusing!). This nursery has been so flexible when I have needed to shift hours and during settling in. I highly recommend this nursery for any parent with children 2+ (the younger ones go to the sister nursery on Chestnut road).
Read on GoogleChestnut is a fantastic nursery with professional, caring and attentive staff who always put the children first and ensure they are happy playing and learning. Shaista, the manager runs the nursery exceptionally well. She knows every child and ensures they are settled and welcomed each day and communication with parents is faultless. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the nursery.
Read on GoogleMy daughter has blossomed here. It was the first proper nursery setting she attended at the age of 2 & 8 months so it took her a few weeks to settle. Now, at the age of 4, she runs on in every day, happy to see her teachers and play with her friends. The staff are friendly and helpful, always finding exciting and interesting ways to stimulate and motivate the children. A wonderful place to learn and grow.
Read on GoogleGreat loving team, responsive and caring. They really understand children's needs. They truly collaborate well with parents and little ones. They do care for each kid individually! They are dealing with Covid professionally and very responsibly. The kids are as happy as before and as safe as possible. They are very responsive when parents need to have a chat or want to ask something. My daughter is learning a lot and playing happily every day!
Read on GoogleBoth of my kids have been at the chestnut at woodgrange nursery and the staff here have become almost an extension of our family. They have been kind, attentive and most importantly provided my children with a safe and fun environment in which to learn, develop and feel confident within themselves. I will never forget the great start in life that they had there!
