Children's Place Barkerend, established in 2004, is a childcare on non-domestic premises setting in Bradford for children aged 0-4 years. Leaders and staff foster a calm, kind, and respectful environment where families feel welcome.
The nursery focuses on preparing children for their next steps, including school, by developing their confidence, independence and a love for learning. The setting takes into account children's diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Staff use sign language for children who use it at home, and home languages are encouraged during play to support communication. While the indoor learning environment effectively promotes personal, social and emotional development, the outdoor curriculum implementation could be strengthened to encourage more cooperative play and build on children's mathematical knowledge during construction activities.
The nursery is open Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 18:00, and operates all year round. Leaders ensure children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) actively participate in all aspects of the curriculum, providing tailored support and making reasonable adjustments to ensure meaningful progress.

Inclusion & environment
Leaders work collaboratively with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure the needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are identified promptly and assessed accurately. They provide tailored support and make reasonable adjustments to reduce barriers to learning and wellbeing. Children with SEND, including those with complex medical needs, receive good support and make meaningful progress.
Staff do not promote collaboration and shared play as successfully in the outdoor environment. They do not implement the curriculum as effectively outdoors to extend children's learning and promote cooperative play. For example, staff do not encourage children to share real-life experiences or build on mathematical knowledge during construction activities outdoors.
The setting takes children's backgrounds and life experiences into account. Staff use sign language to support children who use it at home, and children's home languages are used during play and learning to support communication.
Very poor service still awaiting callback from manager. All details were left 2 weeks prior to appointment contact details and childs name. Very unprofessional.
