The Little Academy Day Nursery, established in 1999, provides childcare for children aged 0–4 years. 30am until 6pm, the setting offers a welcoming environment where friendly and caring staff build positive relationships with children and their families.

This helps children to settle quickly and feel safe and secure, as noted in the February 2024 Ofsted report which rated the nursery as 'Good'. The curriculum is ambitious, preparing children for the next stage of their learning and for school.

Staff have high expectations for behaviour and encourage independence, such as helping children to serve themselves at lunchtime and put on their coats and shoes. The nursery prioritises communication and language development, implementing an intervention programme to support speaking and listening skills.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are very well supported by a dedicated SENCo who works effectively with outside agencies and parents. ' Parents have commented on how happy their children are to attend and the progress they have made since starting at the nursery.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are very well supported. The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) works effectively with outside agencies and parents to provide the support that children need. Staff complete the written progress check when children are aged between two and three years and share this with parents.

Outdoor space

Staff model mathematical language in their play, for example, using words like "big" and "small" when children climb on the outdoor equipment. The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact on children's learning.
