About this day nursery

Christ Church Playgroup is a charity-run establishment that has been serving the community since 1966. Located in a self-contained building in the grounds of Christ Church school, it offers fantastic views over Lancaster.

The playgroup maintains a nurturing environment with a maximum of 20 children per session, ensuring small group sizes. It operates Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, exclusively during term time, aligning with Christ Church School holidays.

The playgroup prides itself on its warm and welcoming atmosphere, fostered by friendly and approachable staff. Following its last Ofsted inspection in April 2018, the playgroup received an overall "Good" grading with positive feedback.

The team is dedicated to continuous improvement of both the physical environment and the educational provisions. Staff regularly engage in training to stay updated with the latest teaching standards and effectively deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, ensuring all developmental areas are covered and the characteristics of effective learning are met.

Charges are structured as an hourly rate that varies by the child's age, with separate bands for two-year-olds and those aged three to four. The nursery accepts childcare vouchers and funded places for eligible two-year-olds.

What it's like to attend

Staff are quick to seek guidance and make referrals to other professionals. Children who are in receipt of funding are supported well.

Outdoor space

Children are beginning to explore the importance of healthy lifestyles. For example, they enjoy riding bikes outdoors.
