Compton Pre-School, established in September 1997, is a privately owned early years setting located within the grounds of Compton C of E Primary School in Plymouth. Registered with Ofsted to provide care for children from the term they turn three until they begin school, the pre-school has achieved an "Outstanding" rating from Ofsted in October 2019.
The dedicated team, led by Mrs. Sam Matthews as Manager, comprises six fully qualified staff members holding NVQ3 or higher childcare qualifications, a diploma in pre-school practice, or qualified teacher status. The pre-school operates during term time with morning and afternoon sessions, offering an all-day option where children bring a packed lunch.
They also provide a breakfast club and a holiday club on select days. Committed to fostering community links, Compton Pre-School engages with local initiatives like Greenacres Residential Home and Collings Park Trust, and implements the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to promote confidence and learning.

Staff use information from parents to create a nurturing environment that supports belonging, and children enter happily, received by further members of staff, and sit down for a short carpet time. The curriculum offers a wide range of activities both inside and outside of the classroom and is built around the children's interests.
