About this day nursery

Crosby Nursery, established in 2010, is a childcare setting in Carlisle that provides care for children aged 0-11 years old. Open 50 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm, the nursery also offers after-school care.

Inspectors rated it as 'Good' overall at its last inspection on 15 December 2022. The nursery prioritises children's emotional well-being, implementing personalised induction plans to ensure a happy start for each child.

Staff at Crosby Nursery gently support children who are learning to manage their emotions, offering reassuring cuddles and engaging them in favourite stories to help them calm down. Children are strongly valued, celebrating their time at the nursery by 'making their mark' on a dedicated wall as they prepare to move on to school.

The curriculum supports children in developing a love for books and reading, with older children learning about authors and illustrators, and babies showing interest in a daily 'book swap' cabinet. The outdoor learning environment is carefully managed, with staff ensuring close supervision during activities like running on the hill and using climbing apparatus to minimise risks and keep children safe.
