Dandelion Education Ltd offers a unique Forest School and Philosophy-led nursery experience, rooted in the vision of founders Hayley Room and Emma Harwood. Established in 2013, the nursery provides a stimulating outdoor-focused learning environment where children aged 2-5 can grow and flourish under expert guidance.
The curriculum emphasises exploration of nature and integrates Philosophy for Children (P4C) to foster critical thinking, communication, and self-awareness. Dandelion Education has been recognised with an Ofsted outstanding rating in all areas in 2022, highlighting its inspirational leadership, dedicated team, and nurturing atmosphere.
They advocate for a play-based, child-led approach to early education and offer various services including a specialist provision called "The Patch" for children aged 3-8, flexi-education sessions, Stay & Play groups for families, and Holiday Clubs. The nursery also champions deferring formal schooling to allow children to experience their reception year within a forest school setting, aiming to counteract the potential detriments of early excessive testing and resource-limited conventional schools.

Inspector highlights
Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
Parents and carers say that the setting has changed their children's lives.
They marvel at the significant progress their children have made with their emotional awareness, communication skills and risk management.
Inclusion & environment
Staff are passionate advocates for inclusive practice. They swiftly identify children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Staff work in close partnership with families and professionals to provide targeted support.
The setting follows a forest school approach and is situated in a wooded area. Children actively participate in risk assessments of gates, trees, and the firepit, and learn songs to reinforce safe behaviours, particularly around the fire and hazards like fungi.
We love Dandelion Wymondham. The site is so beautiful that often when I dropped off my kids I didn't want to leave. My two boys (2 and 4 years old) used to go to the Dandelion Wymondham (in Hethel) and they loved it so much. They would spend a whole day in the rain and the mud and were still jumping in puddles when I picked them up. Within this magical bit of woodland the wonderful Dandelion staff and the children create an inspiring atmosphere full of wonder. The children are involved in extending the site (e.g. making signs, using woodwork and painting), doing risk assessments and cooking (e.g. pancakes). Through real tasks and problem solving games the children learn to work together as a team. I can highly recommend Dandelion and I wish there was an extension of Dandelion up to primary school and high school age (government funded!)...because I think this is the best and most natural and fun education my children can get!
Read on GoogleDandelions Wymondham - Wow! What an absolutely wonderful place for educating children. My son, E, has been attending since April. Since then, he has never been happier to learn, explore and build friendships with both other children and the staff. He asks everyday if he’s going today and his speech has developed so much in six months. The staff is wonderful and show willingness to learn a bit of British Sign Language to communicate with me and adjust to my deafness in any way possible. Thank you so much for welcoming us to the Dandelions family!
Read on GoogleMy Daughter first started Dandilion at the age of 3 and is still there in the Home Education Den at age 5. We as a family love the setting, teachers and life experiences she gains from being here. Have reccomended Dandilion to friends/family and anyone looking online.
Read on GoogleMy son has been attending since spring and we are so happy to see dandelion wymondham grow and flourish. There's not enough words to describe how lovely dandelion is. The adults are all so attentive and caring, but most of all they are big children willing to get into the children's world and play and explore (I love catching glimpses of them playing through the gate). You encourage the children to learn in a fun way, e was disappointed there was no phonics wall throughout holiday club! E has learnt so much, his confidence grew in just the first few weeks and I am constantly surprised at the things he comes out with. He shares recipes with me that you have made for brunch and crafting now involves hammers and nails rather than glue and paper! We love dandelion and recommend it to everyone. It's great to have the chance to defer primary school and spend this precious time learning in such a wonderful calming space. I only hope we can persuade the school to let us Flexi ed so we can keep coming! Thank you dandelion.
