About this day nursery

Davey Day Care, established in 2015, provides childcare for children aged 0-4 years. 30am to 6pm, for 51 weeks of the year.

The staff are described as knowing the children well and implementing an effective curriculum tailored to individual needs, building on their existing skills and knowledge. Children are encouraged to lead their own play and explore in both indoor and outdoor environments.

The setting effectively supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, with staff and managers collaborating with parents and other agencies to ensure a consistent approach to care and learning. A notable aspect of the provision is the manager's curriculum model for babies, which involves learning in different themed rooms.

Children are welcomed warmly into the nursery, and strong, positive relationships between staff and children are evident. Parents have expressed satisfaction with the nursery, particularly regarding the support provided during settling-in periods and the progress their children make.

The leadership team has made significant improvements since the previous inspection, ensuring effective safeguarding arrangements are in place. The setting offers a range of age-appropriate resources and activities, with pre-school children keen to engage with climbing equipment, supervised to promote safe exploration.

Communication and language skills are actively supported, with staff encouraging babies to be vocal and teaching them signs, while also extending pre-school children's vocabulary through engaging activities. Children are motivated, curious, and exhibit good behaviour, demonstrating independence in making choices about their play.

The nursery makes the most of its rural location, offering activities that help children learn about nature.
