About this day nursery

Deerhurst Day Nursery, located just outside Kidderminster, offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged three months to five years. Housed in a charmingly converted Edwardian building, the nursery provides ample space for exploration with numerous indoor rooms and extensive, secure gardens.

Prioritising safety, the premises are accessed via a locked front door with a security camera system, and the gardens are only reachable through secure exits from the house. The nursery fosters a homely atmosphere, aiming to be an extended, supportive family for both children and their families.

This commitment extends to their approach to learning, which is tailored to each child's individual interests and developmental stage, following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Children are divided into six age-appropriate groups, moving from the 'Hedgehogs' room for the youngest babies, to 'Rabbits' and 'Squirrels' for toddlers, then 'Badgers' and 'Foxes' for two-year-olds, and finally the 'Deers' Room for pre-schoolers.

The nursery operates with an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating across all areas, reflecting their dedication to quality care and education, and is open 51 weeks a year.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Leaders and staff provide children with an exceptional start to their education, allowing all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), to make accelerated progress from their starting points. The special educational needs coordinator (SENCO) and staff ensure that children with SEND receive educational programmes that precisely match their learning needs. Deerhurst is the best of the best. From both a parent’s point of view and a nursery practitioner myself. My two girls absolutely love it and get excited for nursery days! They are cared for amazing by everyone. I’m so glad they can get the best start before they start school. The team is amazing one I’m glad to be part of. The team have supported our family in so many different ways and are so understanding and helpful. No problem is ever too big for Becky and Sarah, they know their stuff and are always so approachable and wonderful! The happiest, safest and most inviting environment for my children to thrive and be part of a big nursery family. Thank you Deerhurst.

My son attended Deerhurst Day Nursery from around 10 months old until he left for school. He had the most wonderful time at Deerhurst. The staff are attentive, caring, hardworking and I can't fault them. Our son received the absolute best care during his time here and I am so grateful to each and every one of the staff. It really feels like a family.

We had a really positive experience with this nursery and are very grateful for the care our children received. The staff are kind, supportive, and genuinely care about the children. One of our children has additional needs, and the team were always very attentive, patient, and understanding. They took the time to support him properly and helped him feel comfortable and included. Communication with parents was always good, and it was lovely to see how much our children grew in confidence during their time here. We appreciate the care and dedication the staff showed and would happily recommend this nursery to other families.

Both of my children attended Deerhurst and I cannot recommend it enough. The staff are dedicated and creative, making learning fun through a variety of resources in addition to Forest School, Moo Music and sign language to name a few. The care provided is always consistent and support is always available. Deerhurst really is an outstanding provider who you can put your complete trust in.

Both of my children went to Deerhurst Day nursery and I can easily say that they progressed so much whilst there and were set up ready for school life, they are both thriving in their current settings. The warmth and friendliness of the staff made me feel like I was dropping them off to a second home. I felt at ease and so did my children. The building has had a makeover since my children were there and it’s looks amazing!
