Ditcham Dragonflies is a nurturing nursery dedicated to providing a distinct educational experience for every child. They are committed to fostering an environment where children's voices are not only heard but also valued, both indoors and across expansive outdoor classrooms.
The nursery's philosophy embraces a holistic approach to learning, celebrating diverse areas such as forest exploration, sports, arts, drama, and academics, ensuring that every learning experience is joyful and foundational. By partnering closely with parents and carers, Ditcham Dragonflies aims to deeply understand each child's individual needs and interests, enabling the creation of bespoke learning programmes.
The nursery champions creativity, imagination, and curiosity, believing that a child who feels valued will confidently flourish into an independent learner. Their environment is designed to spark curiosity and encourage exploration, while also teaching children to respect their surroundings and community.
They also employ a unique five-question approach, derived from the Te Whariki principles, to truly connect with each child and build trust, encouraging them to 'fly' and ensuring their sense of fairness within the nursery setting.
Our ethos
We believe that “all children should be known and valued.” Our ambition is to create environments where children can truly have a voice and their opinions are listened to. These environments will be indoors and outdoors. They will be adaptive to the child’s voice, and in the outdoor classrooms, they will learn without walls. We will ensure this is achieved by placing the same values on all areas of learning, in the forest, sport, art, drama, and academic studies, so that all learning becomes a joyous experience that is celebrated and built on for life. We will strive in partnership with the child’s parents/carers to fully understand the child, their needs, and their interests in order to bespoke a learning programme just for them.

Our daughter joined Dragonflies Nursery on opening day, and it’s been the most wonderful experience from start to finish. The whole team are kind, welcoming and truly care about the children. It’s such a warm, nurturing environment and we’ve seen our daughter flourish. Special mention to Lucy, Kelly and Jaidene - they are fantastic at what they do and have made such a difference to our daughters first year at nursery. We couldn’t recommend Dragonflies more highly.
