About this day nursery

Footprints Montessori Day Nursery, established in 2005, provides childcare for children aged 1 to 4 years. The nursery operates all year round, from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Children are warmly greeted by nurturing staff, who plan unique settling-in sessions for babies, helping them to settle quickly and explore the motivating environment. Staff show genuine interest in the children's experiences, which supports their emotional well-being.

The nursery follows the Montessori philosophy, combining it with a play-based curriculum, and places a high priority on developing children's communication skills. Toddlers are encouraged to mimic sounds, developing their early vocabulary, while older children are challenged with more complex language.

The nursery promotes independence from a young age; toddlers learn to put on their shoes and waterproof boots for outdoor play, and older children prepare their own snacks. Staff provide ample opportunities for physical development, including playing outside with water and using the slide in the rain, which also helps teach children how to keep themselves safe.

Inclusion is central to Footprints Montessori Day Nursery, with staff providing very good support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They work closely with other professionals and parents to create and implement plans tailored to the individual needs of children with SEND and medical needs.

Parents have praised the nursery, noting that their children's communication and speech are "beautiful" and that they are "extremely well prepared for school".

Our daughter attended Footprints for 2.5 years and we don't have enough adjectives and superlatives to describe how wonderful her time has been at Footprints. Our daughter was born very early and had a very challenging time so we were very anxious about finding the right place for her and Footprints provided a loving and caring environment and she developed beyond our expectations while she was there. The staff are excellent and it can seen clearly how much the children love them. We would recommend this wonderful nursery to anyone and everyone. Thank you for everything you've done for our daughter.
