About this day nursery

Frisby Pre-School is a welcoming, family-operated village pre-school that holds a 'GOOD' OFSTED rating. The nursery aims to cultivate a stimulating, enjoyable, and engaging environment where children can flourish and learn.

They are actively implementing The Curiosity Approach, an up-to-date method for early childhood education influenced by Reggio Emilia, Steiner, Te Whariki, and Montessori philosophies. This approach encourages children's natural curiosity and provides a rich array of open-ended and authentic resources, fostering problem-solving, decision-making, and independent learning.

The indoor environment is thoughtfully designed with intriguing artifacts, mirrors, and soft lighting to create a magical and calming atmosphere. The pre-school prioritises high-quality care and education for children below statutory school age, working closely with parents to support each child's development.

They also actively contribute to the local community's well-being and offer an inclusive service that values diversity. The curriculum is guided by The Early Years Foundation Stage (DfE 2017), focusing on the principles of a unique child, positive relationships, enabling environments, and individualised learning and development.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported well in the pre-school. Staff work with parents and other professionals to promote children's individual needs, such as developing their speaking skills. The provider liaises with parents to discuss how additional funding can be used to support children's development, sometimes using it to provide extra sessions to promote consistency in their learning.

Outdoor space

Staff are in the process of completing Forest School Level 3 training, which gives them confidence to provide opportunities for children to use real woodworking tools and learn how to keep themselves safe. Staff ensure children are continually supervised as they move between the indoor and outdoor environment.
