About this day nursery

Garforth Day Nursery & Preschool is dedicated to nurturing young children in a secure and stimulating environment, fostering their development through engaging play, strong relationships, and a rich learning experience. They emphasise the critical importance of early years in setting a positive foundation for a child's future educational journey.

The nursery prides itself on a team of devoted care specialists and practitioners who are committed to both nurturing and learning from children from their early years through to pre-school. The well-planned activities and tranquil learning spaces contribute to a calm and homely atmosphere, where children feel relaxed and confident.

The nursery values outdoor time, offering various activities in their garden and playground, alongside special visits from external groups like petting farms and the library bus. They also prioritise health and wellbeing, evident in their healthy eating initiatives and focus on children's mental health through age-appropriate activities.

Strong communication with parents is maintained through daily feedback and an online platform called Tapestry, allowing parents to track their child’s progress and view observations aligned with the EYFS curriculum. The staff are highly praised by parents for their professionalism, caring approach, and ability to cater to individual needs, including complex allergies, ensuring all children feel included and supported.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff complete regular assessments which enables them to identify any gaps in children's knowledge. Staff share assessments with parents and, if necessary, other professionals, to put specialist support in place if required. The nursery's special educational needs coordinator supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Outdoor space

Children benefit from a range of trips in the local community. For example, staff take small groups of babies, in pushchairs, to visit some nearby horses. The narrative also mentions an instance where children cut their own fruit for snack, which supports their physical development.
