About this day nursery
Greenfields Childcare, established in 2002 and previously known as Grasshoppers Pre-school and Dalton Out of School Club, operates as a registered charity governed by a voluntary committee. Situated within the purpose-built Greenfields Family Centre, the childcare facility caters to pupils from Dalton School, St Joseph’s School, and local schools assisting children with additional needs, while also welcoming pre-school children from the nearby area.
The organisation is dedicated to being inclusive, providing accessible services to families across the local community. Their core vision focuses on fostering a happy and secure environment where children are empowered to achieve their full potential through a child-centred, diverse, and engaging curriculum delivered by a highly qualified and committed staff team.
Greenfields Childcare is committed to supporting each child and their family through encouragement and a welcoming approach, believing in cooperative partnerships between parents/carers and staff to enhance learning and development. They achieve this by maintaining comprehensive policies and procedures, actively sharing information with parents and relevant external agencies, and implementing effective planning, record-keeping, and monitoring systems.

Pricing & funding
The nursery offers term-time pre-school sessions for children aged 2 to 4, alongside breakfast, after-school, and holiday clubs for ages 3 to 11. Fees are charged on a daily or weekly basis depending on the chosen session, with optional lunch add-ons. An hourly rate is also available subject to approval.

How they support every child
SEND provision
Where children enter the setting below expected levels of development and with limited language, targeted support and early intervention ensure that any gaps in learning are quickly narrowed. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) get the help and support they need because staff act quickly and are proactive in their approach. Careful consideration is given to how any additional funding is spent and to where it has the greatest impact to improve outcomes for children, for instance to provide staff to work on a one-to-one basis with children. It is also used for staff training and to purchase additional resources where identified in children's individual learning plans.
Outdoor space
Children challenge themselves on bucket stilts and negotiate around obstacles, showing excellent balance and coordination. They persevere on tasks and concentrate for long periods on self-initiated challenges with their friends, testing out what will happen if they place different-sized balls down pipes. They learn about motion and speed as they try to bat them away at the bottom before they hit the ground.
