About this early years setting

Guisborough Montessori Nursery provides care for children aged from birth to four years. It is open all year round, from 7am to 6.15pm, Monday to Friday. At its inspection in March 2022, Ofsted rated the nursery 'Good'. The inspector reported that a 'family culture' helps children to feel happy, safe and secure. Relationships with parents are positive, with an established key-person system ensuring regular communication. Staff use information from home about children's achievements and interests to provide a personalised experience for each child.

The curriculum is designed to be inclusive, and staff promote the development of mathematical and language skills during everyday activities. Outdoors, children have access to large-scale provision that supports their learning and physical development. The baby room is organised to support the development of children's physical and communication skills. The setting's provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities is effective and involves engagement with the local SEND team and other agencies.

Our ethos

We wholly believe that all children have the right to an education which is tailored to their individual needs to ensure that they reach their fullest potential. Working in partnership with parents, we will ensure that we offer a rich and vibrant curriculum to ensure that all children have access to opportunities which will support their holistic development and that expectations are high for all children, always. At Guisborough Montessori we welcome and value all families. We are committed to ensuring that each child understands the responsibility they have within the wider community – building on themes of mutual respect, the rule of law, democracy and individual freedom. These themes are modelled by staff in everything we do. In keeping with Montessori principles, we encourage children to find their “inner teacher” to explore their world and develop new skills in a carefully prepared environment for learning and play.
