Inspector highlights
Areas to develop
Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
Parents comment that their children have made very good progress in their overall development since attending the setting, including in their behaviour.
Inclusion & environment
Children with additional needs are making very good progress in relation to their starting points. Staff-to-child ratios are often above minimum recommendations to ensure that some children receive one-to-one support where needed. Staff work very well with other professionals to ensure that children with additional needs receive the support they need, access relevant training courses, and follow other professionals' recommendations, such as using visual picture books to communicate needs and preferences.
Children enjoy playing outside. Staff constantly assess both indoor and outdoor environments to ensure children's safety. During the inspection, due to a storm, children participated in physical activities like dancing indoors to avoid risk in the outdoor area.
I can’t speak highly enough about Dots and Spots day nursery. From the first time we visited, it felt warm and welcoming. It’s clear to see the nursery truly is a special place. The staff are clearly dedicated to the children’s wellbeing, happiness and development. It is clear to see the children are at heart of all they do from planning activities, little trips out and just playing and having fun. They really take the time to get to know the children as individuals and my son has thrived in their care. He loves going to Dots and talks about the day he has had with all his friends. He is so happy and as a parent that is all I want for him. I am truly grateful to have found such an incredible nursery for my child. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dots and Spots to any other parent who are looking for nurturing, engaging and loving environment for their child.
Read on GoogleI really can’t fault Dots and Spots and the amazing team that work there. My daughter has been going for about 18 months and she just adores it. I know my daughter is safe, having fun, learning, eating good food and playing with friends. The staff are all excellent and really care about the children. They’re so helpful and offer advice. The nursery enrols in programmes like tooth brushing, and every season they go all-out for decorations for such as Halloween and Christmas. They use an app where they record your child’s progress, including key stages but also what they’ve had to eat. Highly recommended.
Read on GoogleHighly recommend Dots! We love it here, the care is exceptional and all the wonderful members of the team are more like family. They’re kind, caring, imaginative & creative. I have no worries about leaving my children in their care; both of mine have been attending since 9 months and they get so attached to their keyworkers! They have a wonderful time with varied experiences and they’ve really developed both socially and academically. Will be forever grateful.
Read on GoogleHighly recommend dots and spots my daughter loves going there on the days i'm at work, I know my daughter is safe there and attending is not only good for her social skills but is also great for learning too. The staff are excellent and you can see really care about the children, my daughter has built a strong relationship with the staff members. Since moving to tweenie rooms theres always been themes that the focus on each month such as sea theme, dinosaurs theme and currently doing autumn/ theme, each season they decorate to help the kids to understand more about each season. The app for parents to use os great to be able to see what has happened during the day from what they have ate, nappy changes, sleep and more.
Read on GoogleMy little girl is now 8, we have used dots and spots since she was 6 months old. Never had any problems at all, the staff have always looked after her and cared for her like she was their own child. I have always felt she was safe and happy to leave her in their care. As my only child they have helped and guided me through the years with all the milestones good and bad and helped me navigate parenthood, honestly don’t know what I would have done without them ! Thank you for everything dots and spots xxxx
