About this day nursery

Harbourside, the tenth nursery in the Hopscotch Day Nursery Group, is situated in Fareham with views of the harbour. It places a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, taking advantage of its proximity to the beach and the Hill Head Haven nature reserve.

The nursery's vision is to provide early years education within a natural environment, fostering an appreciation for nature, sustainability, and environmental responsibility, especially given its location within an area of special scientific interest. Drawing inspiration from leading countries in early childhood development like Sweden and Norway, children at Harbourside spend most of their time outdoors, using the nature reserve and coastline as their classroom.

This approach allows them to learn and grow by experiencing natural cycles firsthand, from daily tides to seasonal changes. Even when weather conditions are not ideal, a well-equipped indoor facility ensures continued learning in this unique setting.

The curriculum at Harbourside is designed to not only facilitate expected learning and development but also to embed an understanding of changing seasons, environmental protection, risk management, and the idea that joy can be found even in challenging conditions. The nursery aims to create cherished childhood memories through immersive outdoor experiences.

Our ethos

Our vision is simple: to provide a day nursery with a dedicated ethos and commitment to early years education in an outdoor, natural environment. We focus on nature, sustainability, and environmental responsibility in this area of special scientific interest (SSI). The nature reserve and coastline serve as their classroom, where they will learn and grow immersed in natural cycles - from daily tides to seasonal changes.

Pricing & funding

Fees are invoiced monthly in advance and are due by the third of the month. Penalty charges apply for both late fee payments and late child pick-ups.
