Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive good support. Staff identify any emerging gaps in learning, at the earliest stage. They liaise with parents and other agencies to ensure that children receive any additional support that will assist them to make good progress.

Outdoor space

All children access daily exercise outdoors to keep them healthy. The indoor and outdoor environments are well planned and provide children with space to play and explore. Children who are not yet mobile are supported to build their physical strength as they cruise around equipment. Mobile children push small, wheeled toys with direction. Older children take manageable risks as they challenge their own physical development, successfully climbing on and off swings, playing ball games and creating a birthday cake in the sand.

Magnus has loved being Hedgerow nursery! He has really progressed and come out of his shell. Lucy and Emily have been absolutely amazing, always a smile on their faces. There is lots of daily updates which I love to see and such a wide variety of educational games and things to play with. The nursery is extremely organised and the meals provided in the price is a real bonus and great effort was made to accommodate his dietary requirements. The goodbye pack we received was so special. Thank you for everything and we wish he could have stayed with you for longer! Lots of love, Magnus Morgan

My daughter started at Hedgerow on 11th March 2024. I really appreciated the fact that we were allowed to stay with her at the nursery for the entire period of the settling in sessions but at some point the staff was encouring me to let her by herself after only just 2 settling in sessions. I felt they were putting pressure on me to do so even though it was clear that she didn't got used to the environment and the key worker so soon. This was her first nursery so it's understandable to take her more time. I knew something was not right at that point that they wanted me that bad to stay away from the nursery and leave her by helself, but we continued to take her there for a month. On a Thursday evening, the owner posted a message on the nursery app that they had to close the room for children below 16months with effect from the Monday due to staff shortages and not being able to have the minimum required ratio. I was extremely shocked and disappointed about this. The owner agreed to waive the fees for that month for us and explained that they were due to hire more staff which let them down at short notice too. A week later, I uncovered the truth in an inspection report from Ofsted. There were complains made throughout March that required minimum ratio was not met so Ofsted did an inspection and gave them a few days notice to correct the issue. This explains the short notice they gave us. I am utterly disappointed and disgusted by the Hedgerow management and can't understand how they let this happen. I wouldn't recommend this nursery.
