About this day nursery

Henshaw Nursery, located in Hexham, provides childcare for children aged 1 to 10 years, operating all year round. 30pm.

The manager is dedicated to providing the best for children, families, and staff, supporting staff to plan a curriculum that helps children to thrive. Staff provide a focus on children learning outdoors and in a home-from-home environment, carefully planning the curriculum and environment to include cosy areas and low-level lamps for a calm learning atmosphere.

Children are engaged in purposeful learning, with opportunities to explore and develop vivid imaginations, such as pretending to be in space. The nursery places a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, with children continually exploring, gaining knowledge of the world around them, and learning about safety in the forest school area, including around the fire pit and pond.

Staff have an in-depth understanding of children's development, interests, and next learning steps, with exceptional support for communication, including staff training to extend language development. Children have excellent opportunities to develop early literacy skills through carefully chosen books and displays.

The nursery effectively supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) through strong partnerships with other professionals and the use of additional funding. Parents are very positive about their children's experiences, often noting that their children skip into nursery looking forward to their day.
