Highview Nursery, established in 1992, provides childcare from 7:30 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, all year round. The nursery, which caters to children aged 2 to 4 years, received a "Good" rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on December 4, 2023.
Children arrive happy and eager to learn, quickly forming strong bonds with staff in the homely and welcoming environment. The nursery fosters good manners and respectful behaviour, with children learning what is expected of them and showing a good understanding of rules.
The curriculum is well-sequenced and flexible, supporting children's unique needs and building on their existing knowledge to plan next steps in learning. Communication and language development are central, with staff modelling correct language and introducing a wide vocabulary.
Children engage in lengthy conversations, demonstrating confidence and articulate communication. Literacy is strongly promoted through access to books, mark-making equipment, a lending library, and reading tasks.
The nursery also implements unique ways to teach children about similarities and differences, using home-learning books to share information about family dynamics and cultures. The support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is well-embedded, with a dedicated coordinator implementing accurate target learning plans and working tirelessly to ensure children receive necessary support, preparing them for future learning.
The inspector observed both indoor and outdoor learning environments, evaluating their impact on children's development.

Inclusion & environment
The support in place for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is well-embedded. The special educational needs and disability coordinator uses her knowledge to implement accurate target learning plans, to support children while they wait for outside referrals. She is passionate about her role and works tirelessly to ensure children receive the support they need. This helps to prepare children with SEND for the next stage in their learning.
The inspector observed the quality of education indoors and outdoors and evaluated the impact on children's learning.
