Howgill Family Centre's Cleator Moor Nursery provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children from birth to four years old. The nursery is committed to placing each child's individual needs and development at the forefront, partnering with parents to ensure a strong educational foundation.
They offer a flexible approach to childcare and boast a warm learning atmosphere with strong community ties. The facilities are thoughtfully designed with age-specific rooms: 'The Zoo Room' for infants aged 0-2, featuring sensory areas and a covered outdoor play space; 'The Sea Room' for 2-3 year olds, offering creative spaces and access to two outdoor areas; and 'The Jungle Room' for 3-4 year olds, which is the largest space and includes an intervention room and an extensive outdoor play area.
The nursery operates year-round, closing only for bank holidays, and encourages parents to book tours and utilise their application form for admissions. They also actively assist families in navigating childcare funding options.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported. Staff are proactive in assessing children's needs early and swiftly implement a package of support for children while working alongside families and other professionals. As a result, children make good progress towards the next steps in their learning and development.
Children thoroughly enjoy being physically active outdoors. They enjoy a brisk walk through the woods to their forest school session, where they confidently recall the rules of the forest before making bird feeders.
Wonderful place to take your little one, currently attending baby groups which are free and fantastic my son absolutely loves going, staff working there are lovely, very nice place to go, and they make little footprint cards to keep for every occasion, also they keep a range of maternity bits to offer help for any one who needs, the place is just exceptional
Read on GoogleRuby has been attending catherine street for 3 months now and has loved every second, from day 1. She is always excited to go and loves telling me about her day, who she has been playing with and what activities she's been doing. Tapestry is brilliant too. Its nice seeing photos of the kids through the day. Thankyou to all that work with Ruby. :)
Read on GoogleMy son goes to the Whitehaven nursery and has only been there since June but absolutely loves it. Esther and her team are absolutely brilliant with him and can't wait for him to start back with them in September
Read on GoogleFantastic little nursery at cleator moor staff very friendly helpful and awesome with the children in their care highly recommend to everyone looking for a nursery and childcare the care you receive from these guys is awesome not only there for your children/grandchildren but you also for any advice at all
Read on GoogleThey offer fantastic services for young people and families in West Cumbria and, being locally based, really know their area and can identify it's needs. I was horrified to hear that they had, apparently, lost out in the recent Cumbria County Council tendering process and were likely to have vital funding removed. A London based organisation would take its place, thus ending 40 years of service to the West Cumbrian community. I wish them all the luck in the world and will be signing the petition to encourage Cumbria CC to overturn it's decision.
