Bloom Southdene, established in 2007, is an integral part of the Kirkby community, sharing its location with St Joseph the Worker RC Primary School. Many staff members are local residents, fostering a strong sense of community and creating a welcoming, familiar environment for families.
The nursery focuses on providing a calm and nurturing atmosphere where children can grow through play, exploration, and meaningful interactions. Recently renovated indoor spaces are designed to be natural, cosy, and inviting, promoting a peaceful learning environment.
The curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, emphasising curiosity, creativity, and connection. Children are encouraged to learn through hands-on experiences tailored to their interests and developmental stages.
The nursery offers age-appropriate rooms for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, designed to build confidence and independence. A distinguishing feature is the extensive outdoor area, which serves as an extension of the classroom, providing opportunities for physical development, problem-solving, and a connection with nature.
Bloom Southdene promotes child-led, purposeful play, integrating early literacy, maths, and social skills development. The baby room provides a secure, sensory-rich setting with consistent care, while older children are gently encouraged towards independence, such as self-serving at meals.
The proximity to St Joseph the Worker Primary School facilitates a smooth transition for children moving to formal schooling. Bloom Southdene is open year-round and offers flexible childcare options, including funded places for eligible families.
The dedicated team strives to create a supportive environment where children can build friendships and develop a lifelong love of learning.
