About this day nursery

Kids Planet Chesterfield provides care for children aged from birth to four years. It is open from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, all year round, and offers funded childcare places for eligible two, three, and four-year-olds. At its inspection in July 2022, Ofsted rated the day nursery 'Good', reporting that children are happy, settle quickly, and behave well. Staff support children's communication skills by encouraging conversation and correct pronunciation, and less confident children are seen to interact respectfully with familiar adults for reassurance.

The day nursery uses a key-person system, with staff communicating with parents daily and through an online application. Babies are supported to confidently explore their environment through sensory experiences. The curriculum has a focus on communication, and the environment is planned with accessible resources and defined play spaces. Outdoor areas include a mud kitchen, a sensory garden, play dens, and age-appropriate equipment. Children learn about a healthy lifestyle through daily activities and engage in obstacle races with hoops, logs, and stepping stones.
