Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well supported. Staff work successfully with other professionals to smooth children's transition on to school when the time comes.

Outdoor space

Staff plan a curriculum that includes daily visits to local parks and areas of interest. They make sure that all children learn about road safety and how to keep themselves safe outdoors. Babies are supported to climb up steps to a slide while staff hold their hands, enjoying the physical challenge and learning to climb carefully. Children have access to fresh air and exercise each day at local parks.

EAL / language support

Children who speak English as an additional language, have developed an understanding of the word 'seconds' as they enjoy their food so much they ask for another serving. Staff take time to get to know children's first language when this is not English. They develop a working knowledge of key words and phrases that children may use in their home language.

Let my boys down thoroughly, failed to apply for Ehcp’s for my twins both with developmental delay and suspected autism and awaiting further assessment with the CDC. Kids planet kept giving excuse after excuse over a period of several months of why the application hadn’t been made, manager changed and absolutely nothing improved. I applied myself in the end as he was approaching school age rapidly, months were passing by and we were running out of time to ensure he had the support for the transition to Primary. The nursery had promised they would get the evidence together to support my parental application. They then failed to provide any evidence in the given time frame when requested by the council so Ehcp denied due to lack of evidence from the education setting. They apologised, I applied to mediation and they promised me they’d get together the evidences ready. I reminded them repeatedly of the upcoming mediation date, chased for evidence, yet they STILL turned up to the mediation meeting with a staff member who had a few moments notice without one single clue of where my son even sat on the EYFS, let alone any evidence or observations needed for the mediation/ongoing echp progress and made the entire setting look really rather silly! Was an absolute shambles and left my son going off to primary school without the support in place that it has now been proven he desperately needed!! If your children have any additional needs (or even if they don’t), avoid at all costs!

I was dubious about sending my two years old daughter to the nursery as her first language is not English. I learned about Squirrels from google and decided to give it a try. I shared my concerns with their team and they assured me that language won’t be a barrier for communication. My daughter is going to Squirrels for more than 6 months now. She took time to settle in but now she has started enjoying her time at the nursery. She has made tremendous progress on her English. The staff is kind, creative and very friendly. I would definitely recommend Squirrels to expat parents for their kids.

My daughter is very happy at Squirrels. She loves going and sometimes has run in before I've even said goodbye. They provide a wide range of activities and as parents, we are always kept up to date with what she is doing and her progress.

Being a parent of a disable child is very challenging in every single way. I handed the reins to squirrel staff and to my sons 1-2-1 and I am in such gratitude with this lovely team of caring staff. They have made such a difference to my family overall including my also 9 year old son who visits the holiday club. They are always finding ideas to make things easier and fun for my boys. They are like a family. They also look after me in many ways when I struggle. I would more than recommend this lovely nursery. Thank you to squirrels for everything you do. You are truly special.

Took my son out of this nursery after 10months. Was the best decision iv ever made, now he's at a nursery joint to primary school. Private own nursery like kids planet just want your money. My son was alway starving when I picked him up like he had not eaten all day. The rooms as dark and dingy and dirty. There's no outside area for kids to play. Iv witnessed a screaming crying baby being ignored, until staff could be bothered to give the attention required. It's only been kids planet for 6 months, before it was call squirrels.
