Areas to develop

  • 1Leaders and those responsible for governance should sustain their work to ensure continued improvement and high standards. Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children who face any barriers to learning make clear and sustained progress from their starting points. Parents of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities recognise their children's achievement and value the way they are encouraged to promote their children's learning further at home. When children have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), staff use individual plans to guide their support and proactively review these regularly to reflect all children's emerging needs.

Outdoor space

The nursery environment, both indoors and in the extensive outdoor areas, is set up to stimulate children's curiosity. Older children exceed physical development outcomes through skilled and focused teaching of specific skills. They learn to manage risk safely, for example, by adapting their pace as they move around trees or muddy ground.

Next level snobbery because myself and my partner dare to work shifts! The receptionist advised she would get a manager to call “to try and sort something” - no call. My partner rang another 3 times and was told a manager would call her. On the 3rd time the manager did call… to say they couldn’t possibly offer flexible childcare, said in such a way as if that’s not a normal offering from a nursery?! And again just generally snobby - waste of time! Oh and before all this we asked to have a look around the nursery and they advised they needed notice to do so, every other nursery in Darlington needed a few hours or few days notice - this one? They never did get back to us
