Kids Planet Hixon, located in Stafford, ST18 0PR, provides childcare for children aged 0-5 years. 30pm, the nursery operates all year round.

The latest Ofsted inspection, on 25th June 2024, rated the nursery as Good overall. Staff at Kids Planet Hixon ensure children settle easily, offering warm greetings and age-appropriate tasks such as filling water bottles.

Children are encouraged to be independent, self-serving meals and washing hands, with staff offering guidance when needed. They confidently navigate daily routines and show kindness towards peers.

The curriculum focuses on providing new experiences and life skills, with children becoming "expert photographers" and participating in activities such as science sessions and "wonder walks" in the local community to learn about nature. Staff incorporate a variety of stories and books, even re-enacting stories like "The Tiger Who Came to Tea" to enhance literacy skills and foster a love for reading.

Support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is particularly strong. The deputy manager, who also serves as the special educational needs coordinator, works closely with parents, other professionals, and staff to address the individual needs of children with SEND.

She implements innovative strategies, such as teaching children to "shoot webs like Spiderman" to strengthen wrist muscles. Children have the freedom to safely explore their outdoor environment, where they can transport water in a wheelbarrow, make marks with paint brushes and rollers, and enjoy washing vegetables and planting seeds.

Parental partnerships are well-developed, with opportunities for stay-and-play sessions and community outings, such as trips to the local allotment. Staff also work diligently with schools to ensure smooth transitions for children, including introducing similar stories and liaising with other key persons for those attending two settings.

The manager has a clear vision for the nursery's future, striving to provide children with even more opportunities to build fundamental life skills.
