Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

There are high expectations for all children to make good progress, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The manager fully understands her role as special educational needs coordinator (SENCo), working closely with staff, parents, and other agencies. The SENCo runs a daily communication and language group that successfully helps children to catch up in their speech and language development.

Outdoor space

When under close supervision, older children enjoy learning how to use a firepit in the outdoor play area. The nursery manager and staff have reorganised and significantly improved the outdoor play areas to create an exciting, well-organised learning environment.

EAL / language support

Staff help children who speak English as an additional language to make good progress in their communication and language development. They introduce activities that inspire children to talk in their home languages as well as in English, such as traditional clothing, dancing, and discussions relating to cultural celebrations.

We very happy with our experience at Kingsmead Nursery & Preschool. Both of our kids attend, and we couldn't be more pleased with the care and attention they receive. The staff is genuinely caring, always making sure each child feels safe, happy, and engaged. The range of activities provided is amazing, offering a good mix of fun and educational experiences. Our kids were always excited to go to nursery on their designated days, which shows how much they enjoy it there. Additionally, the initial settling-in sessions were handled very good as well, making the transition smooth and reassuring for both our children and us as parents. We highly recommend Kingsmead to any parent looking for a nurturing and encouraging environment for their children.

Kingsmead is a lovely little nursery that my eldest daughter loves. She has been so well looked after by all her key workers over the last 18 months and our second daughter will be going when she turns 1. The language and skills that my daughter is picking up is fantastic and the team are so caring for her. Would highly recommend!

My twin boys have been Kingsmead kids since they turned 1. They’re now heading towards 3. Both the baby room and toddler/preschool are fantastic. Staff are all extremely kind, fun, nurturing and proud of this wonderful nursery. Having been through a different nursery system with my eldest boy (now 11) I can really attest to just how special Kingsmead is. The facilities, activities, food but above all care provided are second to none. I’d recommend Kingsmead to anyone in a heartbeat. Thank you team xxx

Our daughter has been attending Kingsmead for 6 months, and she’s been having the most wonderful time. We get regular updates on all of the really fun activities that she gets up to, and it’s obvious that the team put a lot of thought into their plans for each day. The team in the baby unit are all brilliant, and we’ve loved seeing our little one bond with them all, especially Rheia, her keyworker. Can’t recommend this nursery enough!

All three of my young children attend/have attended Kingsmead nursery. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every child feel valued and supported. The nursery's facilities are fantastic - the sand room is a particular hit with our kids ans there is a great garden. We like the range of educational resources and tools, such as the 'Ten Town' numeracy programme. It's clear that the nursery is committed to providing a rich and stimulating environment. We've also been impressed by the extra provision such as a tennis coach, football instructor and dancing teacher etc all of which we hear a lot of chatter about at home. The nursery's focus on school readiness is also one thing we have appreciated, and we've seen our children thrive in their transition to St Bede School next door. The nursery's close proximity to the school is a huge bonus, making the move to 'big school' seamless alongside their peers. In the current climate no nursery is able to give the flexibility and price we would all like, but we feel Kingsmead is worth what we pay.
