Lake View Nursery Ltd, located in Hereford, welcomes children aged 1 to 4 years old into a nurturing and inspiring setting. This "childcare on non-domestic premises" has been operating since 2013 and offers an all-year-round service, closing only for bank holidays and a week at Christmas, with sessions running from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
The nursery prides itself on developing strong relationships between staff, children, and families, ensuring a smooth transition from home to nursery with good settling-in sessions. Children benefit from a curriculum that builds on their existing knowledge, and leaders have successfully implemented action plans to enhance teaching quality.
There is a strong focus on inclusive practice, with dedicated support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), including collaboration with parents and other professionals. The nursery also provides ample opportunities for outdoor play, where children can engage in activities like riding wheeled toys, developing core strength and coordination skills.
Parents consistently commend the caring staff and welcoming management, highlighting their children's happiness and the supportive environment. Although the latest inspection in March 2026 rated the nursery as "Requires Improvement" due to the quality of teaching not consistently promoting sufficient progress, the leadership team is dedicated to continuous improvement and has a clear vision for the nursery's development.
What it's like
Children do not make the progress they are capable of because the quality of teaching at the nursery is not good enough. Although staff provide children with a range of play activities around their interests, they do not make sure children's learning is purposeful and aligned to their stages of development and individual needs.

Inclusion & environment
Staff spoke to the inspector about how they support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. This is a highly inclusive setting where leaders ensure all staff have an in-depth understanding of the individual needs of children with SEND or other barriers to learning. They work with parents, carers and staff to promptly identify and assess gaps in children's learning and implement targeted strategies to support and close them.
Children enjoy lots of opportunities to play outside in the fresh air. Young children excitedly ride on wheeled toys, helping to develop core strength and coordination skills. Children of all ages spend extended periods playing outside every day in the very well-resourced outdoor provision. Covered outdoor spaces and all-weather clothing make this possible all year round, promoting children's physical health and wellbeing.
Lake View Nursery has been fantastic for us and our 3 boys. It has allowed us to work full-time knowing that our kids are having a fun filled day with the most caring staff. My youngest runs in every morning excited to see his friends and the staff. The recent Offsted report is so far from reality to the point that it angers me that it has been allowed to be published. Please do not let this influence your decision, go round and have a look and speak to other parents. You will not be disappointed.
