Lilliput Montessori Day Nursery Leicester Forest East is a purpose-built facility that opened in 2007. The nursery is part of the Lilliput Montessori family, which began in 1994 with the opening of their Anstey branch.
The Leicester Forest East location was designed with insights from years of experience in childcare, allowing for an optimal internal layout that caters to both children and staff. The nursery provides care for children across various age groups, with dedicated rooms and resources for under 2s, 2 to 3-year-olds, and 3 to 4-year-olds.
The environment is designed to foster exploration and development, with age-appropriate toys, sensory rooms, and direct access to outdoor play areas. The pre-school children benefit from three upstairs rooms and an outdoor deck, offering a free-flow approach to learning and play.
The nursery emphasises a strong curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), focusing on prime areas like Language and Communication, Personal, Social and Emotional, and Physical development, and specific areas for older children including Literacy, Maths, Knowledge of the World, and Art and Design. The staff are trained in delivering this programme, with some holding Montessori Qualified Teacher status, ensuring a rich learning experience with a strong emphasis on phonics and multi-sensory activities to prepare children for primary school.
In 2019, Lilliput Montessori became an Employee Owned Company, the second nursery group in the UK to adopt this model, with a significant portion of the business owned by a Trust on behalf of its employees. They are also actively working towards Healthy Tots accreditation, promoting health and well-being.
