About this day nursery

Little Apples Pre-School, part of LA Childcare Ltd, provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 2-4 years. Operating during term-time from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 3 pm, the pre-school offers a child-led approach to learning, where planning is done 'In The Moment' to capture and extend children's interests.

The dedicated team, comprising experienced and qualified practitioners, focuses on fostering a love of learning through curiosity, discovery, and problem-solving activities. The emphasis is on inspiring awe and wonder, allowing children to explore and express their ideas creatively.

Beyond play, the pre-school is committed to promoting emotional well-being, helping children develop resilience, self-regulation, empathy, and confidence in overcoming challenges. Little Apples boasts a secure and spacious playroom, complete with a cosy chill-out area, as well as a fabulous outdoor space that offers endless possibilities for exploration and play.

The pre-school encourages prospective families to get in touch for an informal chat, a visit, or to inquire about upcoming stay-and-play sessions to meet the team.

We follow a truly child-led approach – our planning is done ‘In The Moment’; capturing children’s interests and extending their knowledge, fostering a love of learning. We are passionate about inspiring awe and wonder in children, and allowing them time to be curious, to discover, to express their ideas, to get messy, to solve problems and to immerse themselves in exploring the exciting opportunities we offer. As well as the important business of play, we are committed to promoting our children’s emotional well- being, supporting them to develop skills of resilience, self-regulation and empathy and building confidence to overcome challenges.

What it's like to attend

  • Staff support children's understanding of technology well by using a wildlife camera to monitor animals in the outdoor area and watching the footage with children.
  • The manager relentlessly strives for excellence and continuously reflects on the service the setting provides.

  • The manager ensures that any additional funding is used effectively to support children's individual needs, such as accessing forest school sessions.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make good progress. The manager and the special educational needs coordinator work well with the local authority and external agencies, such as speech and language therapists. Regular meetings with professionals and parents mean that support is put in place promptly.

Outdoor space

Children freely access the well-resourced outdoor area. They enthusiastically create their own obstacle course from tyres, ladders and planks of wood, and enjoy filling and emptying containers with water. They are also fascinated by the wildlife in the garden, observing worms and watching footage from a wildlife camera installed by staff.
