What parents say

Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection

parents say that their children are happy to come to the nursery.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

The manager, who is also the special educational needs coordinator (SENCo), effectively supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and their families. Staff use a visual communication system to support children's understanding of activities and everyday routines, and the SENCo ensures timely referrals to other professionals and works with them to support children's learning and development. Additional funding is used to provide children with small-group interventions for more-individualised learning.

Outdoor space

Staff keenly support children's physical development. Older children enjoy digging, filling and scooping sand outdoors. However, at times, staff working with the youngest children do not consistently provide outdoor activities that match babies' individual stages of development, meaning not all children have high-quality outdoor experiences.

Our daughter Elsa has been going to Little Bear's in Wanstead Village since she was 7 months, she is now 3! Outstanding nursery with nice big rooms and a lovely garden. Exceptional staff and carers that show true dedication to their work. Little Bear's feels like more than a nursery/childcare setting to me, staff and carers have helped me make important decisions for Elsa's development and had been guiding me through key milestones of Elsa's development. I highly recommend this nursery; I visited all the nurseries in Wanstead before making a choice and Little Bear's really stood out for me ever since.

Claire, Donna, Ayo and the gang have taken such good care of my little one, they've treated him as his own. He's still young but it's clear that he has additional needs, and these were met ten fold at Little Bears Wanstead Village. You know you're in a nurturing and supportive environment when you walk in to pick up your child and the highest members of senior management are cuddling him and have already learned his likes and dislikes after a few short weeks. He had real trouble settling in but was comforted, and nurtured, encouraged, and praised week on week so that he could find his own way in his own time. I can't think of a safer, more conducive place for a child to flourish. Every member of staff goes out of their way to make an effort to make you feel supported and your child feel loved. The nursery is such a happy, fulfilling environment that each time you walk in, members smile and take the time to greet you even if they work in a completely different section of the nursery and don't have day to day contact with you. I can't sing the praises of senior management enough. They've always had time for my questions and have maintained a high standard of cleanliness, care and professionalism making the nursery second to none. Emails are answered as soon as they've been sent, records are kept and memorised, and daily changing situations are kept on top of. Not only clearly knowledgeable in their respective fields; but the most caring, understanding and genuine group of people I've ever met. They are literally the dreamteam with the best run place and the highest standard of care and routine I've seen yet.

Its rare to have such an incredible collection of kind and dedicated people all working in the same place. The staff and nursery are a credit to themselves and the industry and have played a major role in helping me raise such a happy little boy. I’m incredibly thankful for them everyday and hope that they get everything their hard work and warm heartedness deserve. Thank you so much team.
