Little Crickets Nursery in Frome provides a stimulating and secure environment for children from 6 months old up to pre-school age. As part of Springmead Preparatory School and owned by Forfar Education Ltd, the nursery boasts a leadership team with extensive experience in childcare and education, including a Norland-trained qualified teacher overseeing the nursery.

The facility features three distinct rooms—the Pre-School, Toddler Suite, and Baby Nest—each designed to be bright, happy, and engaging. With a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, Little Crickets utilises its extensive grounds, including a wildlife area and a large field, for exploration, den building, and learning about nature, guided by trained Forest School leaders.

The curriculum balances adult-led activities that introduce new skills and concepts with child-led exploration that fosters interests and creativity. The nursery is committed to nurturing confident, resilient, and kind individuals, offering specialist lessons in music and French, and focusing on inspiring a love for learning through exciting and varied experiences.

They also highlight their pioneering work with filmmaking for young children, which earned them an ISA Award for Excellence and Innovation in Early Years. Open 50 weeks a year from 8 am to 6 pm, the nursery aims to support busy families, offering full-time and part-time attendance options.

Daily meals are freshly prepared on-site, catering to special dietary needs, and are included in the fees. Little Crickets encourages prospective families to visit and experience their facilities and dedicated staff firsthand.

Pricing & funding

Fees are calculated on an hourly basis, with a standard rate for unfunded hours and a consumable charge applied to funded hours. These rates are effective from April 2025.
