Inspector highlights

  • Leaders are passionate about their vision for the nursery, reflecting on practice and striving for improvement, implementing advice from the local authority and other agencies to enhance staff knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and practice.
  • Babies are developing a sense of identity and belonging as staff encourage them to look at their reflection in mirrors and use words to describe babies' features, helping with early speaking skills.
  • Children actively get books out and look at pictures independently, and staff engage them further by reading stories with excitement and enthusiasm, promoting a love of reading through "story bags" to take books home.
  • Staff encourage children to be independent learners, giving them opportunities to explore and experiment with different materials, successfully encouraging predictions and introducing mathematical concepts.
  • Older children demonstrate a good understanding of their own and others' emotions, beginning to regulate their behaviour and build strong friendly relationships, while staff sensitively support babies to share resources.

Areas to develop

  • 1organise quiet times more effectively so that they accommodate children's needs more successfully
  • 2ensure behaviour management strategies are consistently used by all staff throughout the setting.

My son started at little foxes at the age of 11 months in July 2021. He was a lock down baby and didn’t have many chances to socialise or do many activities outside of the home. Little foxes were incredible transitioning him into life at nursery and continue to support him through his development. The change in my son is astronomical, thanks largely to the wonderful team at little foxes. He’s such a happy, well rounded boy who loves going to nursery! We’ve had challenges with his sleep and little foxes couldn’t have been more supportive. They would follow our asks exactly, or would experiment themselves if they thought it was a good idea (whilst always communicating with us). Everyone at little foxes is incredible. I don’t know how they do it. I’m so glad I chose little foxes.
