Little Imp Pre-School, established in 2003, offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 6 months to 5 years. Located in Hillsborough, overlooking Hillsborough Park, the nursery is conveniently situated near local schools.
The facility is divided into three bright and spacious rooms catering to different age groups: the Pixie Room for babies aged 6 months to 2 years, the Imp Room for toddlers aged 2 to 3 years, and the Elf Room for pre-schoolers, which boasts direct garden access. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines, focusing on active play, exploration, and individualised learning experiences.
They prioritise the Prime Areas of Development (Communication and Language, Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, Physical Development) before integrating Specific Areas (Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design). The nursery emphasises strong partnerships with parents and carers, utilising the Tapestry app for progress updates and encouraging home-based learning support.
Safety is paramount, with CCTV, locked doors, and a password system for pick-ups, alongside regular risk assessments and adherence to safer recruitment policies for staff who are all first aid trained. Little Imp endeavours to foster confident, curious, and independent learners, ready for school and imbued with fundamental British values.

Our son started just before his first birthday in the baby room and is now in the 2-3 years room. He loves it there, his confidence and skills have grown thanks to their care. Any feedback is taken on board and we've been impressed with all of the lovely staff.
Read on GoogleAfter 18 months in nursery I feel I've been left no choice but to find an alternative provider. This is due to the owners complicated and misleading consumables charge which equates to over £1100 pounds a year for a 30 hour a week free hour placement. (You also provide nappies / wipes / and a packed lunch on top of this fee) Please ensure you request in writing, what these charges will be and what they actually cover as for example one of the things I was told the consumable was for was music / movement I thought it was free to move. Many other providers DO NOT charge anything. I have found that the facilities / toys at the nursery are not the best and the activities that are available for children aren’t full of choice. I also want to add that the reason I have kept my child there for so long is because the staff are the heart of that business, the staff in my sons room ( J & E) and office staff (J & T) genuinely have and do care about your child and have made such a positive difference to my boys life in the period he was there which I am so grateful, and this review holds no negative comment to the amazing staff! They can only work with what they are given by the owner.
Read on GoogleMy daughter has started here a few months ago and I can not praise them enough ! My daughter is going through an autism diagnosis and upon knowing this the staff have straight away made a huge impact and been a massive help . They are understanding and professional and have been nothing but good to me and my daughter . 10/10 !
Read on GoogleNot run very well at all. Pulled my son out after being there a week. Charge £3.50 a day for what i was told sand water and paper? I took my own pack up food and nappies so didnt use anything of theirs. I then had a rude phone call from the owner asking me to take my Facebook post off asking for recommendations - calling me unkind and a liar! They certainly do charge you on top of getting my free government funding. Also, to add it isnt exactly full with activities you would think they have a full sand pit it’s literally a little box with sand in. They wouldnt waiver the notice period either so my son couldnt start anywhere else until it was over. Overall bad experience and wouldn’t recommend. Look below at other reviews!
