The Sheffield Hillsborough College Nursery, situated within the Hillsborough campus, provides a purpose-built and self-contained environment for children aged six months to five years, with a total capacity of 53 places. The nursery is dedicated to nurturing each child's development through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, assigning a "key person" to monitor and support individual progress.

Staff are passionate about early years education, focusing on prime areas such as personal and social development, communication and language, and physical development, as well as specific areas including literacy, understanding of the world, maths, and expressive art/design. The nursery is thoughtfully divided into three rooms: the Yellow room for infants aged six months to two years, the Blue room for two to three-year-olds, and the Red room for three to five-year-olds, each equipped with age-appropriate toys and activities.

Healthy snacks are provided in the mid-morning and mid-afternoon, and parents have the option to provide a packed lunch or purchase a hot, nutritious meal. The nursery prides itself on creating a safe and secure atmosphere, with highly trained staff collaborating closely with parents to ensure exceptional care.

The Hillsborough Nursery received a "Good" rating in its most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2023, with inspectors commending the friendly, caring staff and the warm, welcoming environment that encourages children's happiness and engagement.

What it's like

Friendly and caring staff greet children on arrival at this warm and welcoming nursery. Staff form positive relationships with all children. Older children arrive happy and excited to enter the nursery. They often forget to say goodbye to their parents in their eagerness to enter. Babies smile and become excited at the sight of their key person. Children feel happy and safe at the nursery.

Pricing & funding

Charges are based on morning, afternoon, or full-day sessions, alongside an optional early morning hour. Morning and full-day rates include lunch, while snacks and extra lunches are billed separately.
