Little Oaks Day Nursery & Pre-School, established in 2016, provides childcare for children aged 0-4 years. Open all year from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday, the nursery received a "Good" rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 11th July 2023.

Staff are adept at developing strong communication skills in children through rich narration and exposure to new vocabulary. For instance, older children explore a three-dimensional anatomy model, while younger ones are encouraged to describe their play.

Familiar routines help children quickly settle into the warm and welcoming environment, fostering strong bonds with familiar adults. The curriculum is designed to support individual interests and learning needs, with staff working closely with parents and other professionals.

The knowledgeable Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) provides strong support to the staff team, ensuring that the needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are met through thorough assessments and individualised plans. Outdoor learning is a priority, with additional funding successfully used to create an enticing outdoor environment, especially for those with limited opportunities elsewhere.

Older children learn safety rules, such as taking turns with a sand timer for outdoor play. The nursery upholds a highly effective key-person system, particularly for meeting the individual care needs of younger children, maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff work closely with parents and other professionals to build a curriculum that supports children's individual interests and learning needs. They give careful consideration to meeting all children's needs and providing suitable challenges for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The knowledgeable special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) provides good support to the staff team to ensure that they meet children's individual needs successfully. Staff use thorough assessments to promptly identify any learning gaps and work with parents and other agencies to create individualised plans to help children succeed.

Outdoor space

Older children understand the rules that keep them safe, explaining that only eight children can play outside and they need to use a sand timer for turns. Leaders and managers have successfully used additional funding to provide an enticing outdoor learning environment for children with limited opportunities to experience this elsewhere.

Heartfelt Thanks to the Little Oaks Team We are so grateful to everyone at Little Oaks for the incredible care and support they’ve given our son, Myles. From the very beginning, the team have gone above and beyond to create a safe, nurturing environment where he’s been able to grow, learn, and thrive. Myles had some early concerns around his development, and the support we’ve received has been nothing short of outstanding. A special thank you to Jo, who, after returning from her own maternity leave, really took the time to understand Myles’ needs and put the right support in place. Since then, we’ve seen such a positive change in him—his confidence has grown, and he’s making amazing progress every day. It’s not just one person who’s made a difference, though. Every member of the Little Oaks team has played a part in his journey, and we can’t thank you all enough. Thanks to your care and dedication, Myles is starting school happy, confident, and well-prepared. We’ll always be thankful for the wonderful start you’ve given him!

My 6 year old and 4.5 year old both attended here from the age of 1.5. i have just done my last pick-up of my youngest and im very sad knowing that i won't be seeing the brilliant staff again. I can not give the staff enough credit for what they do. They are absolutely fantastic and caring. Both of my daughters were happy to go into nursery in the morning and always come out smiling at the end of the day. They had days packed with different fun stuff that they couldn't wait to tell me all about. 5 years i have done drop off amd im going to miss it. Well done to all the little oaks staff members. Your doing a fantastic job. 🙂
