About this day nursery

Little Plums Day Nursery in Mansfield provides a nurturing and stimulating environment where children learn and develop through play. Located conveniently opposite the Water Meadows Swimming Complex, the nursery offers spacious, air-conditioned rooms and a large secure outdoor play area.

The dedicated team focuses on fostering strong attachments with children and promoting good social skills, while celebrating diversity. They believe in the importance of outdoor play for physical development, natural learning, and vitamin D absorption.

The curriculum is centred around child-led play and education, with activities designed to be fun and challenging. Staff track children's progress against the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and communicate observations to parents via a dedicated app.

Little Plums also offers structured activities with guest experts in areas like language, science, and music, alongside local community trips.

Our ethos

We provide a positive play environment for every child, so they may develop good social skills and an appreciation of all aspects of this country’s multi-cultural society. We plan learning experiences to ensure, as far as practical, there is equality of opportunity for all children and a celebration of diversity. We recognise that children need regular access to outdoor play in order to keep fit and healthy, develop their large and fine motor skills, experience learning in a natural environment and access sunlight in order to absorb vitamin D more effectively.

Little Plums has been an incredible part of our son’s early years. As first time parents, leaving him in someone else's care was daunting but, from our first visit, we felt completely at ease. The staff are warm and nurturing and have also played a huge role in his development, both educationally and socially. We’re so grateful for the support they’ve given our whole family and we know he’ll miss everyone dearly as he starts school. Highly recommended!

Little Plums nursery gave us an amazing experience as parents and our little boy absolutely loved his days there. They had our little one from when he was 4 months old, they made us feel confident about leaving him from his first day. The parent app is regularly updated to let you know what your little ones have been up to. The staff are always happy to help and listen to any worries you have at nursery and home and are really friendly. We had a fantastic 3 years here. Thank you Little Plums for giving my boy and us a great experience and setting his foundations for the future.
