Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) thrive in a language-rich environment that supports their communication and language skills. Staff effectively adapt the learning environment and activities, and leaders collaborate with additional agencies to create tailored plans and provide ongoing training.
Children have ample opportunities to exercise indoors and outdoors, developing crucial physical skills such as balance, agility, and coordination. Babies enjoy jumping in puddles, while older children actively navigate obstacle courses and balance beams.
Little Scallywags Day Nursery provides tailored support for children who speak English as an additional language, including staff modelling language, translating stories, repeating words in children's home languages, and using visual cues. They also develop dual language story books to further support language development.
I can’t say enough about how wonderful this nursery is! My son absolutely loves going there, and it’s all thanks to the incredible staff. The teachers are so attentive, kind, and truly care about his development. Every time I drop him off, I feel at ease knowing he is in such capable hands. The entire team is welcoming, friendly, and always makes us feel like part of their family. It’s truly the best nursery, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience my son is having here!

Read on GoogleI am writing to express my disappointment with how our family was treated regarding our son’s nursery place. When his funding was unexpectedly cut partway through the term, we were assured that his place would be held. Based on that assurance, I made the extremely difficult decision to resign from my job to care for him during this temporary gap. We were later informed that a space would become available again and were asked to call back in a week. However, when we followed up, we were told that no places were available after all. This reversal not only contradicted previous communications but left us feeling misled. We have reason to believe that the space had not actually been filled, which suggests that paying families were prioritised over our prior agreement and our child’s continuity of care. This experience has caused our family considerable stress and hardship, and we expected more integrity and consistency from a setting responsible for children’s wellbeing. We hope this feedback encourages a more transparent and compassionate approach in the future.
