About this day nursery

Little Stars is a day nursery in Didcot for children aged from birth to four years. It is open from 7.30am to 6pm all year round and accepts several government funding schemes. The day nursery was inspected by Ofsted in January 2023 and received an overall rating of Good. The inspector found that children are happy and secure, building strong relationships with staff which helps them to be confident and at ease in the child-orientated setting.

Staff plan stimulating activities based on children's interests and support their independence. Children have use of a large outdoor area for exercise, and younger children also have indoor climbing equipment to help develop their physical skills. Support is in place for children with special educational needs, with a focus on identifying potential speech delays early. Staff also work with parents to learn key words in children's home languages to help them settle. To improve further, the provider was asked to support staff to incorporate more problem solving, mathematics and literacy into activities for younger children.

Recent training has helped staff to assess and identify children's language abilities. This ensures potential speech delays are identified early and support is given before they become more of a significant issue.

Outdoor space

All children benefit from regular opportunities for exercise in the large outdoor area. Younger children also have indoor climbing equipment and slides to help develop their physical skills.
