About this day nursery

Little Ted's Day Nursery, established in 2007 in Ely, provides all-year-round childcare for children aged 0–4 years. 45am until 6pm, excluding bank holidays.

The nursery received a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 24th April 2023. Staff foster good relationships with children, who seek them out for comfort and to share books.

Children are encouraged to be independent, for example, by finding their own coats or carrying plates to the table at mealtimes, helping them feel safe and secure within their routines and boundaries. The curriculum, developed by a manager with a strong understanding of how children learn, offers sequenced opportunities for development in areas like puzzle-solving and early mathematics, such as counting and comparing sizes.

Children also engage in various mark-making activities, including writing lists and attempting to write their names, which prepares them well for school. The nursery promotes a wide vocabulary through songs, stories with props, and discussions that encourage descriptive language.

Outdoor learning is integral, with community trips to a local pond, field, and the nursery's own allotment, where children grow fruit and vegetables, helping them understand their local environment. The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) demonstrates a good understanding of supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities, working closely with parents and other professionals to ensure timely support.

Parents praise the friendly and professional staff, valuing the varied activities and resources, and the clear communication from the nursery.

Worst nursery ever. My child was shouted at on many occasions. The manager jane is extremely obnoxious and unprofessional and I would advise anyone who cares for their child's well being to stay away. Children have been force fed! BAD BAD BAD

Avoid this nursery at all costs. It completely destroyed my son’s confidence. There is a reason it has spaces.
