Longsight Nursery in Manchester provides care for children from one to four years of age. The day nursery is open all year round, operating from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. It offers both full-time and part-time places and accepts government funding for free childcare hours.

Ofsted inspected the day nursery in June 2022 and gave it an overall rating of 'Good'. The inspector reported that children arrive happy and settle quickly in a safe and secure environment. Children’s physical development is promoted in the outdoor area, which has wheeled toys, paths and hills. The report noted that children are curious learners and that their independence is highly prioritised. It also found that children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported and progress well.

Children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, progress well from their starting points. They benefit from lots of support to help them succeed, regardless of their needs.

Outdoor space

Children's physical development is promoted well within the outdoor area. Staff recognise the importance of developing children's gross-motor skills and provide wheeled toys, directional paths and hills for children to run, climb and explore. Leaders and managers have identified that the outdoor curriculum needs to be developed further to provide greater opportunities for children's learning.
