Magdalen Gates Nursery, situated in Norwich, NR3 1NG, offers a stimulating and nurturing environment for children from 3 months up to school age. The nursery operates year-round, excluding Bank Holidays and the Christmas to New Year period, from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.

It provides both full-day and flexible half-day sessions, named 'Sunrise' (8:00am-1:00pm) and 'Sunset' (1:00pm-6:00pm), with freshly prepared meals by an in-house chef. The nursery is purpose-built alongside Magdalen Gates Primary School but operates as a separate entity with its own dedicated team.

It prides itself on fostering curiosity, creativity, and exploration through thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces that feel like a ‘home-from-home’. The approach is child-led and play-based, drawing on Forest School principles and the Curiosity Approach to support children's individual learning journeys.

The nursery actively accepts government funding and Tax-Free Childcare, alongside working with various childcare voucher providers.

Our ethos

At Magdalen Gates Nursery, our priority is to create a warm, safe and inspiring place for children to grow. Founded on the principles of awe and wonder and learning through play, we adopt Forest School principles and the Curiosity Approach to create engaging, stimulating environments. We believe every child is unique and deserves to feel safe, secure and confident to engage, explore and learn. Our approach is child-led and play-based, with educators supporting learning in the moment, sometimes stepping in to guide, and sometimes stepping back to allow children to lead.

Pricing & funding

Fees are structured by age (0-2 years and 3 years and over) and session type (Sunrise & Sunset or Full day). A consumables charge applies to all sessions, including funded ones. Government funding is stretched across 51 weeks of the year.
