Mighty Acorns Day Nursery Ltd, situated within the Wexham Road Children's Centre in Slough, provides childcare for children aged 0 to 4 years. Established in 2009, the nursery operates all year round, opening its doors from 8am to 6pm for 51 weeks of the year.

The nursery aims to create a welcoming and secure environment where children can build strong bonds with staff. The curriculum, recently reviewed by managers, ensures a clear vision for what children are intended to achieve.

Staff are dedicated to meeting individual needs, fostering good behaviour, and acting as positive role models. The setting focuses on supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), with staff adept at recognising concerns and collaborating with external agencies to provide necessary advice and support to families.

Outdoor learning is a key feature, offering ample opportunities for physical activity; younger children enjoy dancing and waving scarves, while older children engage in running, jumping, climbing, and navigating the garden on bikes and scooters. The nursery places a strong emphasis on speech and language development, utilising methods like picture cards and simple sign language for children with speech delays or those learning English as an additional language.

Furthermore, staff cultivate a love of books by regularly reading to children in small groups and encouraging storytelling to foster recall and expand vocabulary. Children are encouraged to develop independence in daily tasks, from self-feeding at mealtimes to practicing handwashing.

The nursery also promotes an understanding of the wider world by celebrating diverse cultures and religions, and introducing children to words from different languages.
