Inclusion & environment
The centre swiftly identifies children needing extra support, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and seeks advice from professionals and specialist teams. These timely interventions help children build confidence, develop speech, and manage their emotions.
Staff enthusiastically encourage children to engage in plenty of exercise, making full use of the local countryside. Daily trips provide opportunities for children to be physically active and immersed in nature, including visits to a local meadow for painting and storytelling.
Milford Early Years Centre supports children who speak English as an additional language by sharing lists of everyday words in both English and home languages with families to encourage language development. However, the report suggests that leaders should ensure teaching consistently includes opportunities for these children in literacy activities, such as linking letters to objects to discuss word meanings.
